Cap Screen - by MR TECHNOLOGIES
1. Who we are
Cap Screen ("the app", package name com.mrtechnologies.capScreen) is published by MR TECHNOLOGIES ("we", "us", "our"), website www.mrtechnologies.in. The app was developed by Mothiram Karthikeyan. Chief Executive Officer: Karthikeyan.
This Privacy Policy explains what the app accesses on your device, what it does with it, and the choices you have. It applies to the app on Android, iPhone, Mac and Windows.
2. Summary
3. What the app accesses
| Item | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Photos / screenshots in your photo library (Android: photo access; iPhone: Photos) | To find your screenshots and show them, sort them into folders, and let you view, share, crop, move and delete them. You grant this through your device's normal permission pop-up. |
| Your Screenshots folder (Android only, optional) | If you choose it, you can allow the folder once through Android's own folder picker so that deleting screenshots does not show a pop-up each time. This is not an app permission and is only used for deleting files you select. |
| The folder you choose (Windows and Mac) | To read the screenshots saved in that folder. Only that folder is read. |
| Text inside a screenshot | Read by on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit, running locally) to help sort screenshots by app and, when you tap Scan, to find links, usernames, email addresses and phone numbers you can open again. The text is held in memory only while the app is working and is never sent anywhere. |
| Device identifiers | None. The app does not read or use the advertising ID, IMEI, SIM serial number, app-set ID, location, contacts, camera, microphone or phone data. |
4. How we use it
- Group your screenshots into folders by the app they came from (using the file name and on-device text recognition).
- Show, zoom, share, crop, move and delete screenshots when you ask.
- Scan a screenshot and offer links, profiles, emails and phone numbers; they open only when you tap them.
- Remember your choices (see section 5).
We do not use your screenshots or any information from them for advertising, profiling, analytics, research or training any model.
5. Information stored on your device
The app keeps a small amount of settings and labels on your device only: which folder each screenshot was sorted into, your light/dark theme choice, the desktop folder you selected, and whether you declined the one-time folder prompt. Cropped copies you create are saved to your photo library like any other picture. Settings and labels are removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall it; pictures you saved stay in your library until you delete them.
6. Sharing and third parties
We do not share your data with anyone and we never sell it. Two things can hand information to someone else, and only when you decide to:
- Share: when you tap Share, your device's share sheet sends the picture to the app you choose.
- Open a link, profile, email or phone number: when you tap a result of Scan, it opens in your browser or in the relevant app (for example Instagram, WhatsApp, your email app or the phone dialler). That app or website is run by someone else and has its own privacy policy.
The app is built with standard open-source and platform libraries (for photo access, sharing, opening links, saving settings, choosing a folder and Google ML Kit on-device text recognition). They run locally. As built, the Android app does not request the internet permission, so no component inside it is able to send data off your device. The app contains no advertising or analytics software.
7. Security
All processing happens locally on your device and no data is transmitted, so there is no server-side copy to protect. Your screenshots stay protected by your device's own security (screen lock and storage protection).
8. Data retention and deletion
We do not hold any of your data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. The app has no accounts, so no account deletion is needed. You are in control: delete screenshots inside the app at any time, and remove the app's settings by clearing its data or uninstalling it. On Android you can also remove the Screenshots folder access in the system's app settings. On iPhone, Apple always asks you to confirm deletions.
9. Permissions requested (Android)
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Photos and images (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES; on Android 12 and older READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) | Read the screenshots in your photo library. |
| Selected photos access (READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED) | Lets the app work if you choose to share only some photos. |
| Internet, network state, advertising ID, location, contacts, camera, microphone, phone, SMS | Not requested. |
10. Children
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no personal data, it does not knowingly collect any from children.
11. Your rights and applicable laws
We aim to follow the privacy laws that apply to the app, including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Because we do not collect or process your personal data on our systems, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, export or erase. We do not receive personal information about people in the EEA, UK or Switzerland from Google. If you have any question or request about your privacy, contact us using the details in section 13 and we will respond.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app's data handling ever changes, we will update this policy and its date before the change takes effect, and make the new version available at the same address and inside the app.
